      Train from Venice to Diepoldsau

There is nothing like catching the train through the Italian and Swiss Alps. In
      a word, it's incredible!
The train passage takes you up through the Italian Alps and down
through the Swiss Alps. The majority of mountain tops have snow on them. Not
only that, but the train twists ...

... disappointed that it was gravel instead of grass. When the time came (we didn't just waste time for nothing) we went to the Toy Museum. The collection was really impressive, and it was in a tiny loft at the top of a building and run by a sweet old lady. She opened one of the glass sections to turn on a train set for a little ...

... mountain. It turned out that we had to wait in the line for about 45 minutes so we got pretty wet anyway. It was all a bit of a disappointment really. First we weren't able to go inside, and then we couldn't take many nice photos because the camera kept getting wet. At one point we even claimed an umbrella that we thought had been left behind, but it turned out that it's owner had just put it down to take some photos. The castle itself was worth the effort, it was ...

... had snow and people were skiing there! Our tour took a cogwheel train to the top of the mountain. At times it was a 48degree climb. The train was comfortable and actually an amazing view. Our pictures once again do no justice to how big of an incline we were on, but trust me it was crazy. It took 40 minutes to get to the top. We saw cows and goats and actually some people were dropped off half way up and walked the rest of the way. I was torn up that I did not bring my walking ...

      Lucerne

A travel blog entry by trevorrose on Jul 01, 2012

... walking in the rain. The Lake was still very lovely despite the rain, the clear green water covered with white swans and ducks of all shapes and sizes. There were hundreds of boats moored all round the shore, both private and also large tour vessels. Lucerne is a major tourist centre and the CBD was full of shops of all types - Victor warning us that prices for most items were very steep - something we found out for ourselves later! Our hotel was very ...
