Friday caught the train out to Como for a day trip.
Wandering around Como is really nice and can imagine it would be awesome in Summer, as well as being incredibly busy and crowded.
Caught the funiculare up to Brunate and walked up the ...
When I finally found Lake Como (after a train, then a bus, then a ferry and then a very confusing walk) I was surprised that it was so empty. It was raining (I think the rain is following me around Europe) and there was no one about so I was able to do my exploring easily. Lake Como is a very small place with not too many things to ...
Como, Lombardy, Italy misswillisCiao Bello,
We have finally hit a day of rain...so we thought we should stop off at the nearest internet site to say hello. We have visited a few of our neighboring communities in the last few days. Varenna, which claims to be the diamond of the lake, while Bellagio is only the pearl of the lake. No George Clooney sightings. Varenna is a cute and quiet town with steep hillsides and walkways. Bellagio is also ...
... near the airport. Because we changed the plans the hotel put us in another room... a suite. They were nice enough not to charge us the usuall price for this magnificent space. Although we have to wake up at 5am, we will sleep in this luxurious suite.
Looking foward to being home and seeing our friends and family. Love, Laura
... be a 4 or 5 hr trip home. We would be falling asleep, but they were undaunted. We had a wonderful time with them speaking Italian etc. They seem very happy together and it is very good to see that. We bid them adieu with the hopes of seeing them next year.
Tomorrow we will spend our last full day in Italy, perhaps going to see the most famous villa on the lake at Balboniello (forgive me if I spelled it wrong).

We transferred from the bus to a boat to do the tour of the Lake. They pointed out the particular houses of royalty and film stars - and how many millions their houses were worth. The views were spectacular, the houses really like castles, and they would have no trouble having privacy, that's for sure! Another wonderfully pleasant surprise! Some have their own cable-cars to get down to the water's edge. (Funicular)

Bellagio holds the characteristics you could only dream of. In fact, I feel almost guilty leaving this entry so short, but we cannot find the enough words worthy of describing this magnificent place....we have to pinch each other to remind ourselves at how lucky we are to be in such a spectacular place together.
Salute!
... The weather was absolutely perfect the entire time we were in Lugano and it wasn't easy to leave behind. Every place I visit in Ticino, the Italian region of Switzerland, I love, so I am sure I will be back to see more of it soon.
On Monday morning my Canadian friend left us in Lugano on a train for Milan. I wish him a safe journey and an amazing experience on his first backpacking trip ever, and his first time outside of North America.
... calories from 1989!!" Being engineering grad students, we had some head calculations made resulting in an average of a 20% incline - but that was an average. It was a total climb of 2700 ft elevation-wise, but the view at the top was beautiful! We had a 360 degree view of Riva and the surrounding towns, as well as Lake Lugano. 2 hours up and 2 hours down and now we're exhausted. Our journey to the bridges starts at 6:30am tomorrow so for now, it's probably bedtime.. Arrivederci!
Riva San Vitale, Switzerland swisshokies... this where the manufacturing works is the focal point of the town. But then this is not your normal, bog standard factory. Since the 1940’s it has been manufacturing Ferraris, and from the balcony of our room we could look directly across the street to the factory’s front gates, where we would be presenting ourselves at 9am the next morning to go inside for a tour.
Hoges and I set out on foot to spend the evening exploring the small town, and in only a ...
