      A day in Amsterdam

A sumptuous breakfast buffet at the hotel, then a brisk walk to the Haarlem Central station to catch a train into Amsterdam. The train was clean, quiet, and quick. We saw our first modern windmills, tall white wind turbines just as we have seen in Washington, Nebraska, and Iowa. We saw farms with fields and pastures with sheep, cows or horses. The Netherlands is the most densely populated country in Europe, which made the pastoral scenes out our train ...

After such a good day yesterday the NZ supporters were wondering if the momentum set in the first two days of finals could be maintained. After a morning of B finals we had the lunch break and then it was into the last of the A finals. Two more golds and two silvers came NZs way out of the four events we were entered. This gave NZ a total of nine medals for the regatta of which 6 were gold. For the first time NZ finished the world champs regatta as the worlds ...

Today is mainly a travel day! I woke up early and had some breakfast and made my way to the airport. Had a nice easy flight and then caught the bus from the airport to my hostel. On the bus ride I got to see lots of the place. It started off all farms and smelled like cow poo, but we eventually got into town with amazing architecture and what ...

... etc. so really suitable for boys on the move. We went out for a walk around the block, and stopped at a supermarket to buy some groceries. Then coming home, Michael cooked dinner. Tristan, Michael's flat mate, joined us. Later Tristan made some apricot muffins. They won't die of starvation. Even though we could have gone to bed early, we didn't! The sun stayed up till half past ten, and I think we are getting used to staying up late and waking up late! Not good for when we get ...

      Everything is better nowadays

... Not the stuff they want to show to the tourists. At the end of the trip, near our hotel, it started to rain. We took a cab to the airport. I watched western civilization pass by my window. The culture rape by uniforming any country they can. The clown (McDonalds) accompanied by the King (Burger King), a colonel (KFC), but way more. Aldi, Lidl, C&A. It's not better in the streets where the financially lucky go. I got bored by Louis (Vuitton), Christian ...
