Truthfully, some stretches hardly qualify as what I would consider "boardwalk," - in some places it runs along dusty highway with no ocean in sight - but it is a walkway made of boards, and at times it offers quite impressive views out to the ocean. In two days I probably walked about 10 kilometers at a leisurely pace. Even though there wasn't anything of historical interest, it ...

Sunday brings day two in the beautiful city of Dalian. Luckily it is nice and sunny, as I need to carry my pack all day. I wanted to check out the north harbour in the morning before I had to check out of my hotel. As I walked up the street what I imagined came true, a nice patio to enjoy a big fat breakfast! Christina- I chanced upon a Maan Coffee location- excellent breakfast, a little pricey for China, but well worth it. Enjoyed the birds and the ...

... to walk. Many beautiful parks and people along the way. Very cool some of the smaller parks had exercise machines there for free and many elderly people actually using them!!! Making my way through Zhongshan square (built by the Russians), past Youhao circle, through hope square, peoples square, Olympic square and finally arriving at Xinghai square around 4pm, much to my surprise it was the last weekend of the international beer festival, so ...

Arriving by Rail in Dalian, a beautiful coastal city. My train came in about 10 pm, I had a horrible sleep on Thursday night, so I was feeling pretty bagged. Not gonna lie the thought crossed my mind to hop a cab, but Bu Yao (no!) I knew I had written myself good directions and I am cheap, so off I went in the dark to find my bed for the weekend. Dalian is very alive at ...

Dad's 87th birthday and Graduation Ceremony at Dalian No 14 High School with Gary Timm's Wilfred Owen playet, Gavin's choir singing war songs, and then Gary's Cinderella in Boots which was hysterical. A great afternoon with really professional presentations from the school leavers.
