Day of rest

Well we had a very restful day today as Pat was not well and couldn't stray too far from our hotel. Watched a movie, had a swim and lunch by the pool. By about 2pm Pat was feeling a bit better so we took the bus into town and had a walk around the shopping centre, but everything too expensive here. For instance I think I paid about $450 Malaysia for my watch and they wanted nearly $900 Malay here. Didn't get to my favourite ...

... afternoon we headed to the bus station and picked up a couple of bus passports (to cover us for the rest of the stay), and got on the first bus we saw. Not normally a tourist spot, Tesco in Georgetown is a bit more western than Nong Khai, but still doesn't sell Marmite!! We had of course, no hotel reservation, just what you need at 23h15. We started walked and checked a few places way too fancy for us and then we found ...

... noticed a sign 'canopy walk closed today' nooooooooooooooo! We ended up going for a walk round the forest which was nice (not as nice as the canopy walk would have been though) and saw some little animals and stuff. The only people we passed were an English couple who had just finished a guided tour, and the very nice man walked us about 20 meters from where they were to show us a very poisonous snake, who was very well camouflaged, which was sweet of him. ...

... is where we'd catch the bus for our final thirty minute ride to Georgetown.

We didn't have any small currency so John paid our bus fare. About three kilometres from where we needed to get off the bus, John pointed to an old apartment building, showing us where he lived. I asked him why he wasn't getting off; he shrugged off the notion. When we arrived in Georgetown, the three of us were off on a mission ...
