Around 90% of Hannover were destroyed during WW2 and when I saw some of
the old houses that remained untouched it really broke my heart as I
could only imagine how pretty this city must have once been.

... very much the cosy bed with the soft pillow and the nice bed linen.

The breakfast was fantastic, too. You could make yourself waffles, or full English breakfast or tomato mozzarella or you could take honey out of a real honeycomb. :-) How cool is that? And you were also given your own newspaper in the morning.

Us Brits seem to have a deep seated mistrust of all things German and, you could argue with good reason, that we dislike the Kraut even more than the Frog. We really shouldn't though.
