          ... forts we've visited in that it was a trading post, not a military post, and it was made of adobe. We didn't have a lot of time, but it was neat to walk through and get a feel of how things worked and how the workers lived. From there, a Category 2 Hampton Inn in La Junta, CO. Nothing exciting about this town other than an inexpensive, point-wise, hotel to stay at! From here, we will plan our return trip looking for Category 1 & 2 hotels. It really is just ...

          Addendum: The Yelp reviews were right on the money, so much so that I actually went so far as to create my own Yelp account to concur. The tacos, served out of a truck, basically, were outstanding. I had Carne Asada and Tim had Fish tacos. Enchiladas ...

          Once we drove out of the San Juan Valley on US 160 the sky was much clearer, and the temperature started to rise. After crossing La Veta Pass and going down the eastern side of it, the vegetation took a sharp turn into desert flora. We saw lots of cholla cactus and low, dried, taupe grass for as far as the eye could see.
