We had an easy trip from Patras to Brindisi, sailing time 17 hours. We chose not to take a cabin, an just as well we didn't. Most of the ship was full of trucks and drivers and the cabins were shared cabins!
The rest of the public areas were quiet and we were able to find flat couches each in a alcove. We took food on board, just as well as the stuff in the café ...

Our last day in Italy......for a while!

Today we're off to Brindisi and decide to travel via Lecce which we have learned is another fabulous old town......and it is!
Later we arrive, eventually, at our hotel after another period of searching as it's situated on a road that is not open to traffic......eventually we park the car ...

... as the "white city", the old town is cute - lots of small streets and passages to explore. We had lunch in the main square and then headed back to the Trullo. The weather was deteriorating again, but we braved it and headed out on our air-wheels as there is an old aqueduct which is now a cycle way just next to where we are staying ...

This morning we went for quite a long walk in the Bosco delle Pianelle nature reserve. They have a visitors' centre, which was closed, but we had picked up a leaflet from Martina Franca so were able to follow the trails. There were wild cyclamen growing everywhere, and also some yellow autumn crocus. One thing we have noticed is that there is no bird song anywhere, and it seems eerily quiet after England, where you hear it all the time. ...
