... to the hotel to freshen up for dinner. We left our hotel at 6.00 pm and headed straight for the place we ate last night, because the quality of food and was reasonably priced, a little cheaper than Perth. It was then back to the hotel for a couple of drinks and plan the next day and also the next train trip to Amsterdam.

... and Highlanders graves. And the graves whose families had paid extra to have extra message on the headstones. Once again all was immaculately kept. Our final stop of the day was the Menin Gate in Ypres. 55000 names of men who were missing at the end of the war. It's crazy that it took years before a peace treaty was reached! There was so much we did on this trip, too much to put on one blog! A day well spent. I only wish we had gone prepared with poppies. ...

It had not really occurred to me until this point that I hadn’t the foggiest idea what I expected the Belgians to sound like. What I discovered was a confusing blend of French, Dutch, and possibly German dialect thrown together to a point where it was impossible to establish just where anyone was from.
