... 8217;d heard it’s India’s 2nd busiest highway after NH 2, part of Grand Trunk (GT) road. I’ve driven on both; no difference whatsoever, as far as my opinion is concerned. I still remember the innumerable times we needed to wait at least 15-20 minutes to overtake the trucks. It was exhausting. Raipur-Jagdalpur is a much faster and better one to drive, but that’s my neighbourhood playground.

... control rope was tied. The remaining straw was being piled into hay ricks nearby. People were collecting water or washing clothes (or themselves) at the many roadside water pumps and in the few rivers we passed, the same washing activities were going on. Around midday we stopped for a quick bite and then continued until around 3.30pm we reached the large city of 'Nagpur. Driving through the busy city traffic we arrived at the airport, with strangely not a ...

... and take a look (literally) at hte engine, before driving off! However, the fifth time she stopped, there was no restarting her, which was a bit of a worry, as we were on a road about 10km out of town, and it was about 4.30. However, someone from the building across the road came over. He spoke pretty good english, introduced himself as Vishal, and said he had a hotel, which we could stay at, he would call out a mechanic and he would feed up and let us ...

... it is pretty much near to impossible to find proper lodging in the night, not to mention the price difference when the innkeeper realizes he has a cash cow right in front of him. I explored the town a bit last night, and though it is not on the "lonely planet" circuit of "must see" destinations, I am, as I have said many times more interested in India itself, it's people, than it's historical sites. You can just basically drive along, and look around--"oh ...

The match boiled down to a final day 'run chase' by the Indians...although we had to wait till after tea for the excitement to kick in...wickets fell, India went after the spinners, the field spread, and we had Flintoff and Harmison charging in ...

The Tigers Last Roar

The lofty sal trees in bloom are a sight to behold.Straight as an arrow ,shooting their verdant green leaves into the clear blue skies. We all sit in our open jeep, listenig intently. From a short distance the call is repeated again, peircing the cool morning air: DHAAANK, DHAANK, DHAANK. It is the Sambur ,a large antelope type deer calling out its traditional warning : Beware , a tiger is near. The tension in the car is electric as all eyes are riveted on ...
