      ... good! The band has gone but now they're playing records out there with a very old DJ! Had dinner here at the hotel, it's our last night in the Czech Republic as tomorrow night we'll be just over the border in Poland. Observation: have not seen any cigarette vending machines in the Czech Republic, they were everywhere in Germany, Austria & Hungary.       ... we were riding, the "highlighted" route and the map didn't coincide at all! Nor did the route instructions! Bumbled our way somehow to the village of Osek, stopped for lunch. PM - Away we headed east towards Castle Helfstyn, route looked straight forward but no, a new cycle path then appeared, more Route 5 signs (not on map), aaaagh!       ... a maccas breakfast, and on zero sleep, trudged half an hour to our hotel. We arrived a bit after 10am. No rooms available. We sat, we waited. We got in a room around 1 and slept until 3.30pm. We headed into old town for dinner, and enjoyed a delicious Polish feast. The Polish Platter had Schnitzel, sausage, roast potato, black pudding and a spicy sauce. Nat chose an excellent pork knuckle. The beer wasn't bad ...

      My Uncle, Aunt, and Malgosia also came and I showed everybody a slide-show of pictures from the last two years of my life. Gave the ladies material for the next several get-togethers. They were oo-ing and oh-ing over how grown up my children are and how diverse my students are and how adorable my dog looks. All in all a very successful party.

      ... the oven. I kept checking the oven for heat, because I didn't want to burn Klara's building down. Of course, in that case, maybe I shouldn't have tried cooking while blind? Fortunately, the oven was always cold.
      The other nobs had grooves on top, so I could feel when they were turned off properly. Nevertheless, it was still difficult to feel without looking if a nob was turned to the 12 o'clock, or 12:45, or ...
