Hotel One Twenty Frankfurt

... spent too much time investigating. Aside from a few months of an Introductory German course that I failed and dropped, I certainly have no 1st hand experience with their culture.
Planning, plotting, and practicing is how I will accomplish this irresponsible feat of travel and confusion.

We arrived in Frankfurt to some more wet weather, and we headed to a hotel a few blocks away that we had seen online. It was in the middle of the red light district, but it was suitable and close to the train station. After we checked in, we found a phone to call Nadine and Flo. Nadine is a cousin of Chad's brother-in-law, and Flo is her boyfriend.

... mall, then later at a town square for cold coffees and bier. Mmmm- cold coffees Indian style with ice cream!

Matt joined us for dinner at an outdoor bier garten, where we had some regional food and great beer: pork knuckles and lots of red cabbage, amongst other things.

Our bellies full, we headed to the airport for our flight to Dubai...

... after my getting lost at the train station, but they were willing to risk it! So we walked for maybe 20 minutes, and were almost there when it started to rain, then pour. Of course, none of us had remembered to bring an umbrella. Mine was back in my backpack, which I had left behind at the hotel, figuring Frankfurt wasn't really a backpack kind of city. So we were standing there soaked and decided to hail a taxi. Good idea, but they all were full, and we just got splashed by more water ...

Staying with the locals proved to be the highlight of the tour to date, unforgettable mountain bike riding, Gondola rides over the black forrest with an 18 km down hill and finishing the day dining with at the sensational Schnitzel paradise..... super memories. ... it could have fallen out, I don't really know... When we got into Cologne there was a parade on. Sunday is the "family" day and there were heaps of little kids in costume, including a really gorgeous 2 yr old dressed as Schnappi the crocodile. Do u remember the song? I've been in Frankfurt several times, mostly checking out the gift show in my capacity as a trade show geek in general, promoter of my frog line in particular. So I know the town a bit. But this time we merely pass through, in the middle of the night, right through the center ...

... My flight was at 7:00am it is almost impossible to wake up that early in the morning, when there was a guarantee that I would miss the hotel's breakfast. But I managed to be on time anyhow. At the check-in counter, I showed the booking number and everything was OK at the time. My backpack was checked in without any overweight penalty, I was given bording passes.
