... is the inventor of the cinema. He bought a house in Cannes and showed the first moving film of a train arriving at the station. The story goes that all the people watching the film panicked and rushed out because they thought a train was heading straight for them!! It was obviously better than todays 3D! From the Palais we walked back to where the tender was waiting to take us back to our ship and a long lunch washed down with lots ...

I skipped getting off the ship to visit Florence as memories of my blistered feet when I was there two years ago were still fresh. So, next stop Cannes. Tender boat to the port as the Epic too monstrous to dock there. Then I jumped on the little tourist train (I'm a sucker for these) for a spin around the town. ... evergreen and flower in the winter time. The region is always sweet smelling hence it's claim to fame as the "perfume" leader. We couldn't figure out how you would get to the top of the village as it would be impossible to drive a car up! Except walking of course! Boy it was hot and 32 degrees climbing the very steep streets. Lucky I am fitter so I was ok! We the had free time and had to meet back at the bus later.
