    ... camps liberated by the Allies.

    Our next stop was much more pleasant.

    We were given ample free time to explore a lovely pedestrian mall in a medieval section of Gdansk, lined with buildings that have been fully restored.

    There were shops and restaurants; even a Hard Rock Café which looked completely out of place in a building that probably dated back to the 18th century.

    ... 5:30. He knew the area well and turned off some of the main roads to get through the traffic. The plus for us was that it was off the beaten path and so we got to see some really nice areas. We got back to the ship at about 5:15 – in plenty of time. As it turned out, several of the Princess tours returned to the ship much later (close to 6:00), so we wouldn’t have had a problem even if we had been a few minutes late.
