... idea at some point, the area was covered in poo and smelt. I was not happy so we trudged back uphill to another ski lift only to find the same. At this point I was getting a bit grumpy. Luckily the rain stopped so we found a poo free spot and had lunch.

We retraced our steps downhill with the rain following us and it has rained on and off since we got back – no change there. We leave tomorrow to head further north and to more mountains.

We ate out tonight. Just after we had sat down, a big group of Italian women arrived (at least 25 to 30) and took their seats. Pretty obviously Trafalgar don't cater for rev head ex-farmers!

Today's tour was to Bolzano, close to the Austrian border. We arrived there late in the morning, stopping for a quick espresso at a truck stop - it's hard to get used to doing things the Italian Way when you have to pay for what you want first, then go and join the queue to get served! So simply getting a coffee takes quite a while, especially when the Italians are prone to barging in front of anyone!

We head for Austria but don't quite make it as we decided to liberate ourselves from the main road and head up a quiet road and go for a walk beside a lake. Murphy's rule, we rock up to the Tourist office and it's shut for Siesta, onwards regardless we go.

We end up at the stunning Lago Di Braies and do the track around the lake. There is a Regal old hotel there and we enquire if there is a room available, it looks very ...
