Waking up, after a frustrating night of sleep, to see that Notre Dame beat Michigan 31-0, made it a great start to a fabulous day! We enjoyed our "substantial Tyrollean breakfast" of yogurt, fruit, breads, pastries, Nutella, meats and cheeses before heading out to mass. The church here in Casterotto is massive. It is like to the church we went to in Kruth, France in style but much much bigger and more crowded. We walked through the very unusual cemetery prior to mass: ...

... A sports section of an Italian newspaper was left in our seats and we noticed the #9 Italia soccer player whose jersey Brady now proudly owns. AND, we saw a story on the Denver Nugget from Italy!!! How funny to see a Denver jersey in the Italian newspaper!!! Such sadness leaving first class. We took breakfast in the throne room - as you do. We are getting a bit sick of cheese and ham but still eating it. We were sad to leave our royal palace. We enjoyed our garden and of course took more castle photos before getting into the taxi to travel to Trento to catch ...

... blackberries, grapes and plums. After about 8 km we ended at the lake and had a lovely swim. The water was cool and it was very different to the dams back home. Clear water instead of murky, pebbles instead of mud, sunbathers on grass, deck chairs and towels instead of sandy beach, there was one little caravan for food and the town really did not meet the touristy bit. We decided to go up to Levico for some ice cream. It was here that we really noticed that the architecture has ...

... towers as accommodation. The imposing Castel Pergine overlooks the Upper Valsugana and Lake Caldonazzo. Because of its strategic position guarding the Via Claudia Augusta Altinate, Historians use to think Pergine Castle rises on the site of an old prehistoric fortress, which later became a Roman settlement; later on, it was transformed into a Longobard stronghold. Erected in the 13th century, it belonged to the Dukes of Austria, ...
