Och här är lite bra-att-ha-saker...
Gothenburg proved to be a delightful second city. It was full of ethnic restuarants, shopping, and public transit in the shape of a tram or trolley. It's probably one of the only cities that doesn't have an underground. Even though it's Sweden's second largest, it's still feels quiet and small. I hiked to the top of a hill where there was a fortress that had been ...
Gothenburg, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden zenergized... before. The sound of the band was fine, maybe even enjoyable, but it was impossible to get past the way these guys looked and danced. Several times during the show I heard people stifling laughter and caught myself doing the same. Too bad because they actually sounded pretty good I thought. And then was Andrew Bird who put on a fantastic show, although sitting in a church pew for hours is torture on my back. I was happy to walk ...
Gothenburg, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden tidolu14... to decide what to do. Do I stay in today and stick around for another day to go visit the town or chance it and get caught in a shower? As I'm deciding, I notice a sign showing the laundry room. Great. That's settled. Time to do some laundry. Most of my clothes stink. I've been wearing the same 3 t-shirts for 10 days now. Hot, humid and sweaty weather. -When I originally looked at my planning map of Europe I had decided not to go to Oslo and Stockholm as ...
Gothenburg, Sweden cobra1899... and make the best use of it! A very important part of Church worship is the fellowship and the bonding that takes place. Off to the train station and on to Gothenburg or Goteburg as they say here. This is Sweden's second largest city located on the west coast. It's the home of Volvo. We leave at 10:18 am. It will take three trains to get there. First, the X2000 express for about 45 minutes, then a regional train for an hour and a quarter and finally an InterCity ...
Gothenburg, Sweden victorkubik... this summer. Paul and Kira Spenser are doing a major brochure distribution in their city of Mjölby. We are praying that the booklet "Road to Eternal Life" can make an impact as well. Tomorrow is my last day in Europe. I'm looking forward getting home and to Beverly. It's been a great trip a lot has been done. Stefan gave me his room for the night. We have to leave at at 5:15 am to get to Gothenburg Landsvetter airport. I'm scheduled to be home Wednesday afternoon at ...
Gothenburg, Sweden victorkubik... to see a tall greenhouse at the side of one of these, filled with the luxuriant growth of oriental foliage. "Shall I drive to the Gasgifvari? " said my charioteer. " No, go straight on to the steam-boat at once." So on we passed through magnificent streets and squares, with a large Canal running through the midst of them, crossed by handsome bridges. The effect of the whole was grand beyond anything I was prepared for; and the distant tall chimneys sending forth columns ...
Gothenborg, Sweden travellerbruce... Well at least I am indoors and it is warm. As 10pm kicks around, the last of the staff at the airport leave and a security guy comes up to me and explains to me that they are leaving now. A bit naively, I am thinking so what, you are an airport, airports stay open 24 hours a day - why are you telling me. Well big ones stay open. Little Shed like this one close at 10pm.. 10:05pm I am now sitting outside the airport, in minus 6 degrees freezing weather, trying to read my book ...
