... while the botanical gardens offered a distraction, allowing us to fritter away a few hours with a picnic. Back at our hostel, we were serenaded by a bloke aimlessly strumming his guitar. Don't get me wrong, I love the guitar, the pinnacle of all musical instruments, anyone that's heard the 'Owen Davies Experience' knows that. However, I do feel that far too many backpackers choose the Spank Plank to ...

      Day 1: Exhaustion

A travel blog entry by 1024leigh on Jun 20, 2014

Wooow. What a day. Goodness I was exhausted. To be honest, this day wasn't super interesting, so I am planning a fairly short blog entry. So, we started our trip bright eyed and bushy tales at the bus station at around 6:30 pm. We got out bus tickets, super excited and loaded up the bus to David. That night at the bar ended up being a bit of a staff party, we all stayed up late drinking and playing giant jenga. That night all the volunteers decided that we should create a second set of rules for giant jenga (each block has a number written on it, that corresponds to an action or something else you have to answer or do as you stack ...

      Our first few days

A travel blog entry by sharissajj on Feb 11, 2014

... The second day we decided to take it easy, just walked into town to grab some groceries. All the locals are super nice, and were really patient with us and our lack of Spanish. It's about a twenty minute walk along the road one way, and then the hike up the hill to the hostel. On our way back to lost and found we stopped at the one restaurant in the town for some coffee and empanadas. There were twin boys still in diapers at the restaurant who were not amused by ...
