... the "Hurry up and wait" thing all day, leaving Diane at the hotel to "relax" wait and use the internet. The only real things that happened in the day were: providing information to the inquiry and being summoned to another office where we were to be extorted of US$500 tax. The latter had us all fired up but Don let fly and we finally managed to get an audience with the district manager, Thankfully he was somewhat younger and intelligent. We left ...

It was just the four of us there and a kind older lady took care of us like we were her kids. ... drink just 1 cup of medium-roasted coffee in the morning. Why?

    • It is very humid and hot in Panama. People sweat most of the time, even if they are not doing anything at the moment. Because of the climate locals do not feel like drinking warm coffee often during the day. One cup of coffee in the morning is just fine.
    • Medium-roasted coffee has a long pleasant aftertaste. Light or ...

... turtles landing on the beach. Their job is to record the exact location of the nest, count the eggs, and measure the turtle’s size, as well as keep people off the beach between dusk and dawn (except for those in guided groups). While we waited, we looked at the tracks the turtle had made up the beach, as wide as my arm span, and very conspicuous in spite of its meandering route which may fool some predators, but not human ones.

This leatherback turtle (the largest ...
