... pure shunting through towns, particularly Freiburg where we saw an actual shunt, a woman having driven into the back of a man, and doing her best to blame him. It reminded me, with our limited language skills (though Liza's German isn't bad) how difficult a situation that could prove for us. Sat nav, as ever, got us through it all. Serena, what a girl. Seriously. We would have been mental to attempt this without her. I think this at practically every junction we ...

We arrived in Zurich with expectations and all of them were met with disappointment. Impressions of Zurich. Brown, bland, uninspiring. It was difficult to find a park. In the end we found somewhere and had to ride about 6 km back into town to have a look around. We arrived in Switzerland went for a walk along the lake and then had lunch at a café that was the outlet for some chocolates that they ...

... forest, apple and cherry orchards with the occasional strawberry field. Vineyards are also prevalent, especially as you get closer to the Bodensee. We have spent the last few days cycling along traffic free lanes
    and forest tracks.

On Tuesday we cycled down to the Bodensee through pretty villages, forest and vineyards. We passed an old house whose roof was covered with storks nesting on purpose built platforms. Everywhere you looked there were storks, ...

... Lindau to our first stop at Wasserburg. We were here to see Burg Wasserburg, but that turned out to be not much more than a hotel. It looks nice, but you can't just wander in and tour it. The far more interesting part of Wasserburg was actually all of the artwork and statuary scattered about along the waterfront. Very nice - but not much else to do or see here, so we moved on.

Next was Friedrichshafen, where we wanted to see ...
