Ahh this is the South of France that we had hoped for! A clear blue sky with only the occasional white cloud scudding across . We set out , this time intent on a train journey, to Hendaye, a little town on the French /Spanish border for a day at the beach.
Arriving at the station we purchase our tickets in a hurry noting from the information board that, the train to Hendaye will be a platform two NOW! We dash on glad to have caught it and settle down. As the train moves on, ...
Spanish haciendas that were so popular in Australia in the 70’s (admittedly we
did not travel any further south than Madrid, so maybe they are all there
waiting for us).
We travelled along many minor roads which had two
plusses, we got to see much more of the local villages and we avoided some of
the more ridiculous tolls. Arrived about
lunch time the following day in a seaside resort that looked to all intent as
if someone had come ...
... so whilst wet they were very safe.
First Col for the day was a little lump known as Col St.Ignace, about the same height as Belair/Windy Point. Then a reasonable distance until we hit the second Col d'Osquich at 507m. As you might expect about 10 kms from the Col the pace went on and the race started. At the foot of the Col there was probably only 5 of us there. At that moment Phil and Johan powered away from Peter, Mick and I.

... and giggling and taking silly photos one of which is the very lame selfie where I'm trying to work out how to take it! Being in Biarritz was different to the rest of France. The streets are still complicated as well as the language but it was very beautiful and had a relaxing vibe. Two weeks after we left we heard the women's Roxy pro surf competition was cancelled from no waves! I was so sad to say goodbye to France for now but very excited to check our Spain - our next stop San Sebastian.

Leaving the aquarium, we walked all the way back to the shopping center called Centro Commercial la Bretxa. We went there because there was a McDonald's. By the time we got there we were all beat. We ordered our meal, took it outside, and sat along the street. We were all incredibly hungry due to all of the walking we did that morning. The real coincidence of ...
