    We were on somewhat of a deadline this morning. I had arranged to meet Phil and Louise at Gare de Lyon so the girls could catch the TGV down to Avignon. Phil and I had to then head to Gare Montparnasse to get the TGV to meet the rest of the guys at St.Jean de Luz. So timing was critical and with the long wait for the bags plus the very slow cab ride into town the anxiety was high.

    ... two Irish friends. When the girls left the next morning we decided to stay on an extra day to allow my blisters time to dry out. Luckily, the hotel only charged us half the price of the apartment.

    ... any Spanish flag, but no surprises there given the strong political tensions existing in these areas...I won't say anything else about this as its dead boring.

    The last 4kms were a very welcome downhill, with only the first 200 metres being rocky (but easy), and the rest soil paths. It was a very comfortable level of descent so I gradually developed my walk into a sort of hop, and then light jog. I found it irresistible to have gravity push the rucksack so enjoyed ...
