Bye to the Sea

As the title implies, today's route left behind the coast and turned inland as I drew within 200 km of Santiago de Compostela.

The first 2/3 of the day were not great. All highway expect for a few kms where I found parallel side streets. It also did not have yesterday's mountainous beauty. Instead, a steady headwind slowed me. Perhaps some of the change was geopolitical? because I left Astoria and ...

... getting anything to eat. Haven't seen my buddies Mike or Jeff since Ribadeo as they have a set schedule that didn't work for me, but we will end up at the same village on the 9th at Sobrado Dos Monxes. Stopped for a bite around 10:00, four people went by and ...

... fine with cycle path into the town which Hugh did while I used our washing machine for the first time. Very successfully. The following morning tried to get to the cathedral but all the parking places for large vans had been taped shut and the place was awash with police. Stopping in a small town en route where we had coffee, we ventured on to Leon, with its stunning cathedral made of white limestone, superb carving set in a beautiful plaza. The whole town was ...
