... best friends by the time we left... 7 Euro well spent!!

Fri 13 Nov
Drizzle greeted us this morning so we got on our wet weather gear and headed off for a walk along the coast to Portofino which was 5km away. The wind blew away any cobwebs we may have had but it blew the rain away so we were happy. The walk followed the coast where we looked into the deep blues ...
Santa Margherita Ligure, Italian Riviera, Italy darrenhough74Sadie and I left beatiful peaceful Florence to mean unhelpful Genoa. We have been so spoiled in our travels up till this point. We usually have a bit of train trouble but nothing that can't be fixed or solved within an hour. Well landing in Genoa was not the case. The train ride up the coast was breath taking, I wanted so badly to jump off the train and stay a few days in one of the coastal towns. I think for my next trip to Europe its a must. The houses are so ...
Genoa, Italian Riviera, Italy konaduyThis morning we woke up to get ready to go on the Historic Center walking tour of Genoa. We had a nice breakfast at the buffet and I even found a decaf cappa for breakfast too. We met in the lounge at 8:45 and got on a little boat in the harbor and had a tour of the harbor and then got off at the aquarium and started our tour. Genoa is very nice and the historic section dates back ...
Genoa, Italian Riviera, Italy mamafeathersDestination 404

km197'196

A wonderful winding route via a inland section have lead me from Pisa to the coastline around Genova. But since in that part of the environment it was very hard to find a spot for bushcamping I took the toll freeway to prevent to get stuck in the chaotic traffic of Genova and headed north into the highlands of the northern region of Genova. A beatiful spot at the top of a mountain has provided perfect views to sunset and sunrise, but a bloody cold night!
Borghetto di Borbera, Piedmont, Italy martinasfamily... a lot of ground in a short period of time, but it does take its toll at times. It was a really odd experience to travel through a 13-mile long tunnel cruising at 100. Remember, this is the cruising speed. You’ll get much higher passing other cars, getting out of the way for the Ferrari coming up behind you or chasing the Ferrari that just passed. (Take a look at the speedo shot a few posts ago..) There is not a lot of room for error. Think ...
Santa Margherita Ligure, Italian Riviera, Italy travelingmoores... like a little rollercoaster ride! The cabin however was comfortable with the sea rocking you to sleep!Genova So, Genova is really nothing special, you can see why they don't generally bring cruise liners here! There is really nothing much to do ...
Genoa, Italian Riviera, Italy mercurystorm18/8/07 Day 20 We get up at 0700 for a change and its all systems go, shower and change, pack up the caravan and we are out the gates before 0900. it's a pretty easy straight drive to Genoa and the tolls are considerably cheaper than France. We have to drive the caravan through the city which was fun, I got my first real taste of scary Italian drivers surrounding you with the caravan and car and you trying not to hit anyone. ROB - I defy anyone to improve on Italian drivers, they ...
Genoa, Italy rob.jenn... Tara feeling a bit weak from a cold coming on, but pumped none the less to walk a few kilometers for some killer views... But, these killer views quickly turned into killer steps up and down mountains that lasted forever! With no rails, no good foot holds, and a serious group of elderly folks with walking sticks and angry looks on our trail, we could not look back now! Luckily, sweating profusely and gasping for air, we made it up and around the first hill ...
Cinque Terre, Italy hsnyder... heat! And of course I am happy as a clam here as it is a seaside town... love it! We arrived yesterday, found a place to stay (expensive!!) and headed out to do the walk to the 5 towns. The first hike is an hour and a half - straight up and stairs.. um, nobody mentioned that before! So we died going up - I had the bright idea that we should only bring one bottle of water instead of constantly carrying to half full bottles that are warm - might ...
