... bitter. We walked up one side of the lake to the Ratera waterfall where John hijacked some unsuspecting person to take our photo. We stopped for lunch at Lake Ratera just as it started to rain. We both put on all the clothes we had in our rucksacks to keep out the wet and cold. We are in the snow line here and the path to the viewpoint involved walking over increasing large patches of snow. At the viewpoint it was snowing.

After arriving at Tarascon in bright sunshine we were disappointed to wake up to a dull day with fine drizzle. ... up to the top in less than an hour if it wanted to. We stayed in the village of Soldeu, one of six main entry points to the area, but we were driving past parts of Grandvalira for a half hour before we arrived there. It’s huge; and from the top you can look west and see Spain, then turn around and see France.

Getting off the bus, we found our apartment without difficulty, and quickly picked up our lift tickets ...
