... just entered France. So here I am now in France, two days earlier than planned, on a site where I hadn't planned on staying, with a very sore foot. Actually its not as bad as it sounds. This site at Estavar is lovely, and is only 1km from a Spanish enclave (I had never heard of an enclave but it appears to be a town surrounded by France but still claiming to be Spanish). From my pitch next to a mountain stream bubbling down over rocks I can hear the ...

We arrived this afternoon after driving via Toulouse. The drive up the mountains takes two hours and is a combination of winding roads and tunnels a few times all you could see was a mountain 100 metres ahead and no obvious road until you go around a bend. Its one of the prettiest towns I've ever seen. Snow all gone but now gearing up for summer hikers. Wine 2 euro a bottle, beer 2.50 a pint.I had a few electrical problems but after an hour with ...

The first road we wanted to take we new had a closed passed so our ever reliable GPS ( now known as Beatrix) suggested some cut through routes. Unfortunately these initially came to an ...

... One Saturday we went to Limoux to check out Cremant de Limoux. (I drove as I thought it time I learnt to drive on the right side. It's quite nerve wracking especially up the very narrow windy roads with a shear drop on one side, especially for Caroline in the passenger side). This alternative to champagne was created in 1531 by the monks in Limoux and the champagne region copied their method to create champagne. We went to get a selection for ...

... buy furniture and hopefully open the café in July. Am getting people in to quote on repairing some lovely old stained glass windows, landscape gardeners to quote on beautifying the front garden only at this stage, and getting quotes for laying the underfloor heating so there are constant meetings with suppliers. Unfortunately they all think if it is a Chateau they can add on a couple of noughts to their quotes as of course chateau owners have an unending supply ...
