    ... salt marshes so it is also an important bird reserve. We did see a couple of new birds but there is not a lot there during the summer.

    ... we were to visit the town, the hairdresser mentioned a good patisserie and that was our first port of call for coffee and cake after parking up. Then we set off to explore the narrow, cobbled streets of the old town, built on a sandstone hill, giving fine views across the surrounding countryside.     ... birds (the flamingos were nesting in the island offshore at this time of year and nowhere to be seen).

    After driving what seemed forever, we finally came upon a point where we could park the car and walk along the beach. We now proudly boast that we took a toe-dip in the Mediterranean. Beautiful lapping waves and warm water.

    ... was slowly going down but some of the stuff was really dry grass and weeds which was really going up with a ‘whoosh’ and we were getting a bit panicky about putting it on the fire for safety reasons so decided not to risk it. Our host arrived to see how we were getting on and said that the pile of dry weeds needed to go on as well, we explained the danger and she said just put it on a little bit at a time……Mandy wasn’t too sure about this ...
