It was a long 5 hour drive today to get to the Pyrenees but it was worth every minute of it to round a corner and see the snow capped mountains in the distance. We arrived at our campsite at Bagneres de Bigorre just south of Tarbes in the Haut Pyrenees about 2pm and were amazed to see the elusive yellow ball (aka the sun) in the sky….yeee haaa!!


Our campsite is stunning, situated at the foot of the Pyrenees, there are currently only 2 vans staying ...

... Got the rolls I wanted, only to find they were like rocks so binned them down the street. Next the supermarket for said supplies. Language choices are Spanish, Catalan, French or Vietnamese. So I wander around a huge supermarket looking for products that only a lady will use. Not something I am unfamiliar with, just the location is new. So I found the Tena pads for men, but no help. ... as hitching (free) but the it started raining as soon as I got on the train. So maybe it was a good thing that hitching didnt work out?
Anyway, got into Lourdes around 17:00. Still plenty of day light. The information centre at the trainstation was closed so I made my way into the centre of town, hoping to stumble accross the Department of Tourisme. Which I did, and the jar of free French chocolate. Thankyou!

... at the maps, I reached into the backpack and sliced a nice deep cut into my finger. Bandaged up, we found the right way out of Lourdes and headed off. The country side again was perfect. Everything you see on the TV watching the Tour and more. Little villages spread out, all with their churches or perched precariously on the sides of mountains, just magic.
