WOW! Cannot believe 2014 has come to an end! Many great things happened last year. My best friend got married, friends got engaged, announced pregnancies, I travelled to Rarotonga and Singapore... and then made the big move to France! First day trip was to Saint Emilion, a small historical vineyard town about 45 minutes inland from Bordeaux. One ...

... jam and wondered what was going on. Later we found out that some days are just like that, particularly in August, the french holiday season.
This was a medieval city surrounded by a wall in its day. The wall has now gone, but the original area is traffic free. It is amazing, full of alleys, cobbled streets and all old buildings. The base of our building is original 13th century. We met our landlords, father and son, who own the framing business below ...

... is very hard to find places that are open on Saturday, Sunday or Monday. I am all for a 32 hour working week, and no-one over here ever seems stressed or angry, but when you arrive in a place at 7pm on Saturday with no food it would be awesome to be able to find a shop over the next few days. I reckon Sal and I spent about 5 hours over 3 days driving around looking for a supermarket, generally unsuccessfully. It turned out to be a good way to get ...
