... to wander around for a few hours before getting the train on to Bordeaux. A bizarre experience I’ve just remembered from Tours was walking down an alley towards the site of some Roman ruins, when I was stopped by a pair of quite drunk buskers who wanted a chat. Though they spoke barely any English and I nowhere near enough French to understand everything, before too long they had mentioned in a sentence the words “Australia” and ...

  • I love France
  • During the three months I was able to make a few side trips to Lacanau, Toulouse, Sarlat, St Emillion and PARIS (again) for my birthday. Fortunately they had insulated boxes for the ice cream and Monflanquin is only 2 ...

... as they were concerned that the vibrations from the 8 tonne bell would affect the cathedral. Built in the 12-16 centuries and is currently having alot of restoration work done to it. It appears that they are not simply cleaning the stone, but replacing some of it, and we were able to see a man doing some carving onto the new stone work.

We visited the old two city entrances and there is a small area of the remaining old city ...
