Stockholm in 2 days

I didn't spend much time in Stockholm, but here's how I spent my 2 days...

The Ice Bar, inside the Nordic sea hotel (http://www.nordicseahotel.se/en/The-ho tel/Food-and-drink/ICEBAR-STOCKHOLM-by- ICEHOTEL/). It's a total tourist trap and you have to pay to even get through the door, but it's still a 'must do' for a visit to Stockholm …

Back to my roots

Because we found a flight to Sweden from Frankfurt/Hahn for 45 euro, that is how the trip was chosen. We went after work on Friday and traveled the 1 1/2 hrs away to the airport. For those of you that don't know about Ryanair, it is a cheaper-more bare bones airline than Southwest. When I say cheaper that is because they charge you for anything. …

We'd Swede again

... restoration process. We were in here for over an hour but you could easily spend longer if you wished. From here we strolled a little further along the river a little further until we started feeling peckish so we head to Sturehof restaurant on Stureplan 2, another recommendation, and I’d certainly pass it on. The service, as always, faultless. The food delicious. The restaurant took on a ‘boat’ feel and the waiters wore waist to floor aprons, looking very dapper. ...

Kelly was in her element! What can I say? ABBA the museum!!
We have officially indoctrinated our children into the world of ABBA - don't call DCP. Will cried when he couldn't buy a t shirt at the end of the tour. Kelly had the opportunity to sing in the studio as well as sing and dance on stage with the group. An unforgettable experience! Plenty of laughs.

A Swedish Tradition - Smörgåsbord

Our party enjoyed multiple courses, trying almost every offering. Even ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Nordic Sea Hotel Stockholm

Stylish, but not an architectural must-see.

    from

Stayed here June 2004. As an architect, I cannot get enough of the boutique hotel trend. The Nordic Sea makes a good effort, but is not brilliant. (Their website design is more sophisticated). On the other hand, it doesn't have the "cooler than thou" attitude you find elsewhere. The fishtank wall separating the bar space is wonderful and the huge chairs are great, though getting a bit worn.

    Ok

    from

The room was ok, the fire alarm pissed me off at 5 in the morning. It's a little bit of a stuck up part of Stockholm-quite unfriendly- go for somewhere in the suburbs to meet everyday Swedes.

Simply great and very relaxing surroundings!

    from

I stayed here with my wife from 8-11 April 2004 during the easter weekend. The hotel is beautiful and created a really relaxing environment. The room was modern and had great wooden flooring. The TV was a bonus in Sweden as Swedish TV dont seem to dub over any English or US sitcoms or films. The hotel obviously has a maritime feeling and I would honestly say that when walking down the hotel corridors you feel like you are on a cruise ship (Its a strange feeling that you have to experience for yourself). The staff are first class and are always happy to assist you. The brekfast buffet is good and can save you a lot of money if it is incuded in your rate as eating out in Sweden is quite expensive. The hotel is also right next door to the Arlanda express train station which serves Arlanda international airport! I would definately stay in this hotel again. I should also mention that the soundproofing in the hotel rooms is fantastic. Top Marks!!

    Great hotel

    from

We stayed at the Nordic Light on the weekend of February 21st. What a great hotel. In Sweden you expect a bit of style, and the hotel certainly had that. Despite being a trendy place, the staff were friendly and extremely helpful and efficient. Loved the lighting effects on the walls. Great location for arriving from the airport, could not have been easier. Wonderful buffet breakfast. A walk of 5-10 minutes maximum takes you to Lake Maleren, which was frozen over when we were there. City centre all easily accessible on foot, and we did not feel the need to use public transport at all. Would definitely return to this hotel, and can thoroughly recommend it.

    Stylish World Trade Centre location

    from

Very stylish hotel, with more character than its minimalist sister - Nordic Light (directly across the road). Stockholm World Trade Centre, Arlanda Express Airport train, and Central Station T-Bane underground are both right outside the door. Very comfortable nordic styled rooms. Forget the grossly overrated Ice Bar though. 130 SEK cover charge, including first vodka. Its just a tiny little bar that really only appeals to the photo snapping tourists.

    Excellent

    from

We stayed at the Nordic Light over Easter 2002, and once we had overcome our apprehension at the exterior (office block) , were delighted with the style, food and comfort offered within. Breakfast buffet was extensive and if you wished an omelette, the chef cooked one up right then as you watched.

    Fantastic Hotel

    from

We stayed at the Nordic Sea Hotel in April 2003. We really liked everything about this hotel. The reception/bar area is lovely with a big fishtank running down the middle and a very cool ice bar on the side which is pricy but well worth it. Breakfast was very extensive too and included in the price of our stay. Our rooms were nicely decorated and very modern with a really comfortable bed. Best nights sleep I have had in ages. Also location is brilliant as its very close to the shops and central train station. I am returning sometime this year and will definitely be staying here again.

    Loved it!

    from

Stayed at this hotel a couple of times. Rooms are clean and the breakfast is good. Located right next to the airport express train. Do not miss a visit to the Ice Bar - a totally unique and wonderful experience! Only down side of this hotel is that it's not on the beautiful Stockholm waterfront, but you can walk there in about 15 minutes of take the T subway. I'd stay here again!

    Stylish rooms, OK location

    from

The Nordic Sea Hotel is right next to the terminus for the shuttle train to Arlanda Airport, so it's very convenient to reach. It's not in the most scenic part of the city, however, so you need to travel a bit of a ways to see the best parts of Stockholm. One tourist destination is right in the hotel: the Ice Bar, where every guest should pay a visit and enjoy a couple of drinks at least once during your stay. The rooms are medium-sized but feel spacious and appealing due to their contemporary design using natural woods and understated fabrics and paint. The bathroom felt luxurious, although the door over the tub didn't prevent some water from the shower spraying over onto the mirror and countertop. The maids were generous with the soaps, which proved to be a useful takeaway for later visits in other hotels that skimp on the free soap. I would gladly stay here again.

    Simply the best

    from

Stayed at the Nordic Sea in the summer of 2002 and it was a truly wonderful experience. The hotel is literally steps away from airport express train, so location couldn't be better. The hotel itself is very hip, very clean. Great rooms, friendly staff and a great main bar area. But by far the best feature is the Ice Bar. Drinking flavoured vodkas from a glass made of ice in what can only be referred to as an oversized igloo is an absolute scream.Avoid the sister hotel across the street, Nordic Light Hotel, it's the poor relation in terms of decor.
