This was by far my favorite week of the trip. The food was fantastic, and I actually felt like I had a firm understanding of the causes and potential solutions to the Kosovo question, as opposed to when I left Bosnia and I was inclined to let them just fight it out. Some fun highlights of the week: I spoke in German to a cab driver in Kosovo, which was a good warm up to all the German I've been speaking already in Vienna. But you'll hear more about that ...

Catastrophe averted when we made a trip to Pristina airport to collect said missing luggage, all the way from London. Milazim and Dad returned with the goods, containing mum's fresh jocks and medicine, hence her anxiety levels normalised. Make one friend in a nice young fella with a single stud in his left ear. I find out this marks him as an only child, so the message from the parents is "this is our only son, please don't harm him, look after him". I invite him to Sunday meeting, he says if god (Allah) wills. I meet him again later and he gives me some pumpkin seed to snack on. Despite his limited English and my limited Albanian, some sign language works and ...

    ... land for Serbia.

Militias rampaged thru Kosovo, burning houses, executing people, and driving a terrorized population out. The population of almost 2 million flooded into Albania and Macedonia who couldn’t cope, upsetting the ethnic balance with their own ethnic groups.

Fearing a wider Balkan war pulling in Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, and Greece, then President Bill Clinton pushed a reluctant EU to intervene militarily with a ...
