Pfadfinderweg 6 - 8 Salzburg, Salzburg, Austrian Alps, Austria, 5020
... misty valleys and along sides of mountains, looking down on tiny towns below. The little houses in Austria are like chalets and look a lot like the homes in Switzerland. There is already a bit of snow in some of the villages that are a bit higher up.
Salzburg was a cute city and bigger than I thought it was going to be. It was nice to see anothertown in Austria, other than the capital city. We didn't have to ...
... punks... and surprise, they were super cute and loved to help us... I called them Peter Pan and my Lost Boys!! We arrived at the Hotel and booked our Sound of Music tour, it left at 9 am the next morning, so we called it a night and got up early to have a super good free breakfast and go on the the tour...
The tour lady was super cute... she was just like KB, she loved to sing ...
... it was off to bed!
In the morning we got up early went down to buy our tickets for the Sound of Music Tour that started at 10am. While we waited for our ride to come, we enjoyed the continental breakfast...I think its the largest continental breakfast I have ever seen! There were eggs, bacon, yogurt, all different types of granola and nuts, cereal, toast, meats and cheeses...it was crazy!! Finally at 945 our ride for the tour ...
... they filmed The Sound of Music around this area, and let me tell you, they were not greenscreening anything, people. This place is gorgeous! I think it had even Bruges beat on being picturesque. Winding streets, blue skies, cute shops, and the Alps. Seriously, how am I going to go back to Illinois after scenery like this?
Anyway, we started off our visit by taking a funicular ride up to the fortress, which ...
... to play the drums in credence clearwater revival so we need to check that out. We kept on drinking and having shots and we were both blind drunk Marcus wanted us to go into town to an Irish bar that he was going on about but we had had nothing to eat since earlier so we declined and went to see if the kebab shop down the road was open it wasnt so we went to bed hungry and drunk but had a very very good night one of the best on the trip!
Salzburg, Austrian Alps, Austria traceybelle... see a giant golden sphere with a man standing on top.... Putting this down to the 19 cent water we tried to ignore it and moved on to admire the cathedral and find Mozart's birthplace. It was only later that we discovered that we weren't hallucinating and there was in fact a giant golden sphere with a statue of a man standing upon it. We don't know why either....
After walking ...

In the morning we head out for Salzburg, Austria. However we were supposed to buy an autobahn pass to drive on the roads, so we stopped at a gas station to buy one. Unfortunately, no one there spoke English or German and so all we could do was make hand signals. Sounds funny, but it was slightly frustrating! It makes me wonder how they are going to do with the whole European Union thing! But, it also makes me realize how lucky we have it ...
... the castle. Went on tour of the castle which was an audio tour but was total chaos! About 40 people in the group trying to walk through the castle with no tour guide and the exit doors of each room locked until a guide came and opened them meant a lot of time crammed in a room waiting to get out. Very frustrating! Caught the Festungbahn back down to the city and walked back to the hotel. Checked emails on the hotel internet terminal, had a coffee and then ...
