... in a silent forest. I cannot stress enough how beautiful Luleň is. There is always something new to see and experience. The pictures I take and this blog cannot even get close to describing how free this place makes me feel. You don't even need the wilderness to feel free either. Sometimes it can just be a matter of going to a night club, not having a care in the world, and just dancing. Which leads me to the evening after Gammelstad... STUK! Stuk is the night club for ...

... everwhere - COME ON EUROPE GIVE THOSE CIGARETTES A REST... stepping down off soap box.

It's somewhat funny that the Socialist hate all the laws we have to govern personal action/behavior in the USA. But today I say... Thank goodness for all our non-smoking laws!

No pictures today, it was just to smoky :^)... actually forgot my cameras at home today.

Awoke early to sounds of what appeared to be crushing ore above us (turned out to be track maintenance), packed up tent and walked up to reception before the midges woke up and ate us alive (we put midge nets on just in case they were awake). Val decided to try to walk to the train station (which we had seen, we thought, the night before). After an initial uphill stretch the rest of the way was downhill, which we managed OK - we must be ...

Up bright and early. We had around 1000 kms to travel, and had to hope that our two trains, two buses and a tram all connected. Bid our farewells to the awful Eurohostel, and hopped on the tram. The 7:30 train from Helsinki to Oulu departed on time, and sped along at close to 160 km/h, but still managed to arrive an hour late which mystified me. The connecting service from Oulu to Kemi had to wait for us, so it was an hour and a half late leaving Oulu, but duly deposited ...

        ... body of water.

        I was so scared.

        AND I LOVED IT!

Seriously, it was such a great flight. Great food (though many think I have a very low tolerance for food... and it's probably true), great movies to watch on the plane (The Proposal, Star Trek, My Sister's Keeper, The Sound of the Music, and all of the Harry Potter movies) and gossip magazines! In English!

We arrived in Stockholm, Sweden at 7:00 a.m. and took a tour bus to ...
