... we had to go to lachung first.

Lachung is a town in northeast Sikkim, India. It is located in the North Sikkim district and is near the border with Tibet. It was dark now but the hour and a half ride to Siliguri was a packed but uneventful one. Siliguri is the second largest city in West Bengal after Kolkata (Calcutta) but doesn't have much going for it except an airport. It's simply a place to stay before moving onto Darjeeling. We had our intended hotel loaded onto Google Maps on the Nexus so knew exactly where to get off the bus. It ...
