      The sun is hot and we're starting to feel the jet-lag, so we return to the hotel around 2pm for a brief siesta before dinner. We meet at 6pm for drinks at the hotel bar, only to discover that it will not open until 7pm due to Ramadan. So we reverse the order and go eat dinner first, then return to the bar for a drink afterwards.

      After Kota, I headed for the Old Port, "Sunda Kelapa," on foot with my map in hand. This took me through some interesting sites. I went to see the old draw bridge which was the only one remaining from the Dutch. Unfortunately, although the bridge was intact, the entire area between Kota and the Old Port was very destitute.
