... This experience is definitely opening my eyes to the world of primary and bilingual education. I started taking my own Spanish classes today at a school that is subsidized by the government. I think the classes will keep me humble and will help me empathize with the children in their second-language acquisition. I'm super excited for what else is in store for the rest of the school year! I will have pictures of the school and students soon. Will post them then! hugs and kisses...
Alcala De Henares, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands jg.lavagabunda... is quite splendid. Also, last year there was a strange wall on the Paseo del Prado that was covered with a variety of different plants. It was quite impressive and this year I realized that it is part of the recently opened CaixaForum, a museum open to the public for FREE. I wish the U.S. would take a cue from the variety and availability of art accessible to the general public in Europe. It sure beats the approx. $15 museum entrance fees in San Francisco, or worse, $25 in New York. At the ...

We were quite enchanted with the little duck, and as I stooped down to take a picture, Diana pointed behind me. I turned around, and less than 10 feet away was a large, angry peacock with its feathers fully outstretched. As far as we could tell, the ducky and the peacock had been having some kind of ...
Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands stevevls... away, but everyone in the crowd stopped and stared with their jaws on the floor as he carried me. After a long time of hugging and all that, I found out that Delta had lost his big suitcase (the one carrying all his clothes and a ton of stuff for me. It was a good thing that his bag was overweight when he left in San Francisco because he had put a couple shirts and sweaters in a shopping bag to use as carry-on. He would be wearing those clothes the entire week. Then it was ...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands kwirky250... we decided to stand in the 1st row to see the best - well bad thought than the wind came right in our direction - people were screaming and running away not to get burned - I was like a nightmare - Adriana took a video of people running and screaming - that was the Fallas live - how crazy! The last monument that ever gets burned is the one at the Plaza de Ayuntamiento - it is the biggest and tallest one ...
Valencia, Spain jess84... Madrid, considering my options for hunting down the girls in a capital city without the aid of any intelligble spanish when I feel a tap on my shoulder and it is Jane, claires sister who, thank god, also travelled on my flight ... wept with joy. Madrid, Spain snowster... the UNESCO as part of the World Heritage. It's also the place where the famous Spanish literature awards, the "Premio Cervantes", is given out by the Kings of Spain. The façade was definitely something to look at. Typically Spanish Renaissance in style, it was decorated with eclectic classical allegories, symbolisms, and coats of arms, but that was something that would be explained in the tour which was to begin in 5 minutes, so we hurried inside the ...
Alcalá de Henares, Spain zento... Vega Theater where we saw the musical "Mamma Mia" in Spanish of course. I loved it so much I bought the soundtrack. We ate at a restaurant called "Nebraska" which was of particular interest to me because I was born in Lincoln, Nebraska and my mother's immediate family lives there. María took me to as many places of interest as possible. The Prado Museum was one of the highlights of my trip. I saw famous works of art by Goya ...
