... Eventually with another night booked a free chocolate waffle we set off to explore the city of Brussels. The city has a metro system, an underground tram and a train system all running out of the same stations. We managed to navigate these and make our way into the city. The taxi driver arrived promptly on Wednesday morning for my day trip to Brussels. He spoke a little English and was very friendly and willing to engage in conversation.

delicious Belgian chocolates from the smiling airline attendant who was handing
    them out.

The next thing I knew it was 5am and we were landing in Brussels.
Checking with the guy at information to make sure I could actually leave the
airport and come back later for my flight he said "Of course you can!" so off I
headed happily before realising I had absolutely no idea where ...

    Belgium the beautiful

... and they made the experience that much better), we were off once more.

Our next stop was to a bar dubbed "Image of Our Lady", which coincidentally was the oldest bar in Belgium, standing for over 400 years and still going strong. While not the busiest pub I've ever seen, it too had the local appeal and rightly so...it's been around forever it seems like. With the ambiance in place, we consumed the following (in order).
