... we first arrived at the place, the first thing I noticed were the Halloween customs all around. You could dress up in all sorts of customs like Spiderman, Superman, and even a leopard. My aunt grabbed five colorful wigs that we wore as they sang the night away. When we were leaving I ended up seeing a guy dressed up in the Spiderman outfit and I took a quick picture. I am not sure why they dress up to sing but it was actually pretty fun.
Busan, Korea Rep. cwienke... The b*throom w*s the most curious of *ll. It s*t * step up from the breezew*y off to the left. In conjunction with this step up, the door to it h*d * very predomin*nt threshold th*t m*de you trip every time you entered. But even if you m*n*ged to get your oversized Americ*n foot *round the bottom of the thing, you were sure to sm*ck your forehe*d on the top of the thing. I don't know. I guess I'd s*y the door w*s only *bout 5' 5" t*ll. So ...
Busan, Korea Rep. ct_sigchi... in Korean. I didn't know all the dances they were doing. Each Korean song had it's own dance I guess.... I don't usually dance too often--even when I go out....so I felt awkward. I did participate in the Congo Line.... Yeah. I said Congo Line. My principal dragged me in... It felt like a wedding almost...how excited everyone was. Oh! You know, how at weddings, you see people you're not used to seeing ...
Haeundae, Busan, Korea Rep. missyjoymel... on this night, and strangers will give you candy!! :) Fun. On Halloween, I threw a party in my after-school class. I found a few decorations here or there--but the selection was seriously limited... The girls had SOOO much fun though. I found some paper masks, little plastic pumpkins, did a craft, and made caramel apples. They loved every minute of it, and preceeded to text me throughout the night thanking me. It was such a great party!

... enquire about ferries for the next day and discovered that at that day all ferry trips were cancelled because of a nearby typhoon. After this I took a bus to the Manjanggul Cave, the largest lava tube in the world, but was a little bit disappointed, because it was very touristy. A large lava tube I friend and I visited on the Galagos Islands about a year ago was much more interesting, due to the fact that we pretty much had that lava tube to ourselves. Luckily enough the next ...
Busan, Korea Rep. mies... who I pass by everyday. It's a little....creepy...??? I do take some comfort in it though. People will notice when I'm gone. Koreans are very proud people. I don't want to presume, but I can almost say that I think they're proud that I'm living in their neighborhood. They keep their distance for the most part, but all have been very friendly. I'm not sure all my neighbors care, but I can garuntee you that I've been the topic of ...
Sajik-tong, Busan, Korea Rep. missyjoymel... and I'm suprised at how misbehaved the students are in general. In only a few classes has my co-teacher actually quieted the kids down. I'm just going to have to do it myself. Who knew I would be considered a mean teacher??? Nah, I just expect a little respect is all. I've had hoodlums in classes back home who shrink in their chairs when I give them "the look." But it doesn't even PHASE these kids. Hmmm....I'm going to have to work on my technique ...
Sajik-tong, Busan, Korea Rep. missyjoymel... the best of the 7. I'm curious what you Potter fans out there think. Overall, Busan was not remarkable, but quite relaxing. However, the next stop, Sokcho, was both remarkable and relaxing. Swimming, Soraksan-ing in Sokcho After spending a vacation-less week doing what I was supposed to be doing at school, I decided that was no fun and went on another vacation. This time to the east coast of Korea, a fun little town called Sokcho. I went with my ...
Busan, Sokcho, Gapyeong, Korea Rep. wjrohde... be in Seoul for a couple of days so they invited me to join them at Gyeongbok-gung palace. We got to see the changing of the guard which was very fascinating, but pretty cheesy (unfortunately for me... I loved every second). I was really impressed with the palace. The architecture was incredible.
It is such a different way of life.
Thanks again to the wedding families for letting me be a part of this special time.
... a veggie restaurant downtown which served a semblance of korean traditional food (i'm guessing), i almost exclusively ate western dishes - the main exception to this was korean spicy pot noodles. i'm not sure if i can get across to you the way it feels to distrust everything you order, and the strain it puts on you. it sounds silly but it becomes a huge thing to go through the same depressing process three times a day, every day, because you want to indulge in the culture ...
