        The second stop into the Black Forest region was the Maulbronn Abbey, a Monastery built sometime in the 1300s. The pamphlet we got mentioned it was over 800 years old, but I'm getting confused as some components were a little younger than that, like 600 years old. In any case, it was incredible. They had some descriptions of the masonry that was done to construct it. I just can't imagine the hard work ...

        ... us some history & sights. We walked down the steps on the side of hill/park? Walked over famous old bridge that's modelled on or similar to Prague's Charles bridge (ie. Karlov Most). Had a quick look inside the old protestant church. Went up to Heidelberg Castle & had a look. R showed us the huge wine casks. He mentioned the story of a distinguished wine taster/judge who said he could taste in the wine - iron, leather & oak?. Later ...

        We ended last evening with dinner along the Neckar River which is a few minute walk from our hotel. A quaint German restaurant with all the traditional fare Germany is known for. We ended up sharing an entree which was perfect. The beer was great as well.

        We woke up after only a few hours of sleep, but made it back to sleep and woke up fairly late (for us anyway), and had a leisurely breakfast here in the hotel. We ...
