Very nice receptionists and a good location. The room is what you might expect from the hotel of this standard.

... however, the surrounding countryside is pretty - vineyards everywhere and distant snow covered mountains. We detoured to Desenzano on the banks of Lake Garda. Clearly a summer holiday town but a beautiful town situated on the shores of a huge lake. The water is crystal clear. Lunch at local trattoria consisting of local trout - scrumptious, a walk around town, purchase of veggies and fruit from local markets and off to the autostrada. ...

Leaving Milano, we started the day with Bergamo which is an ancient town about 40 km east of Milan we've been hearing a lot about. I have to admit that it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Maybe it's just me setting my expectation too high.

... on its operatic, particularly Verdi, connections. At one point it advertised that Verdi's opera were played continuously in the lobby, but sadly that is no longer the case.

We walk through Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle II to the Piazza del Duomo; it is crowded with at least than a thousand people and even more pigeons. We join them, sit down on the steps, relax and watch the part of the of the world that is Milan go by. The magnificent Duomo is ...

... from my hostel. An unintentional 10km run around the disorientating streets of Central Milan, oops! Thank goodness for the map my run app and gps to get me back to the hostel... While exploring Milan I visited the duomo, an old castello, a botanical garden and did a lot of window shopping/gazing around the designer quadrant. A great city with a busy but welcoming vibe. I also came across a new version of happy hour which I found rather appealing. So you pay a little more ...
