... pretty special. We also loved walking up the many bridges and looking down the waterways at passing gondola and boats, navigating the water traffic. Eventually we made it to the piazza San Marco, the main square in Venice, a unesco heritage sight that awed us with its gorgeous intricate architecture. It was a beautiful place. After walking around we decided to climb the magnificent red brick bell tower, St Marks Camponile, to enjoy a beautiful view of the city. The lift was a ...

It was so bad that we were specifically told not to ...

We started to make our way back towards the hotel and found a restaurant along the way. Once dinner was finished, Amanda wanted one last taste of that black cherry gelato as it would be our last chance before we left for home. We returned to the gelato shop in St. Mark's square only to find it closed for the night. I think Amanda might have actually shed ...

... streets and canals of Venice. Such a beautiful city. If you ever come to Europe, do not miss Venice!! The backpack started to fill up with goodies and we started our walk back to the ship. The shopkeepers were sad to see us go - the start of an economic downturn after we leave. Back to the ship for a wonderful formal night and ready for the second half of the cruise ...
