... there is a line up at the door. This culture is so different, and takes some getting used to I think.

Wednesday I woke up able to breathe a little better, and I had made some friends at Breakfast. Tessa, Raachel and Lissie who had all met in Florence doing a teaching course. We all sharted sharing out stories and decided to walk around together, it was nice to have company again. We chatted about Twilight ...
Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, Italy benitalutzShort train ride from Florence after a hair raising trip trying to return the rental car in confusing, congested and traffic restrictied Florence (don't rent a car downtown go to the airport). Bologna is an university town (even Johns Hopkin has a campus). Very historical town with a great plaza area like most towns and a great antique market.
Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy pathenger... miles from a little town north of Bologna to Ferrara. Luckily they have bike friendly trains here, because that's how we got home.

That night, we met Gherardo, a friend of my former professor's, who used to live in DC, so spoke very good English, for dinner. He took us to a "typical" Bologna restaurant, I ate amazing bolognese, and we peppered Gherardo with questions about Italy, Italians ...
Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, Italy jaeleli... never tried it..) and a jaccuzi tub in the bathroom AND there were two sinks - one was really low to the ground so we didnt use it :). We put our stuff away and went down to the desk to find out where was good to eat. I sheepishly asked what the deal was with our room and the lady just smiled and said there is no suppliment, they were overbooked. This place was probably 200 Euro a night and we were paying less than 40 ...
Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy brandonandryan... gelato place downstairs, next to pizza place. Gelato place sells cannolis too. Next to that a produce guy who sells fresh figs, how could such nice things happen to the three of us? Our favorite things in the world...

I will need to be rolled out of this country.

No one in Bologna speaks a word of English. We manage and I will bring the dictionary tomorrow. Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy cainteam... my first sight of that nature in Italy. Bolzano, and the northern region has some pretty impressive Castles but not churches. We went to the internet café, and I finally got my blog started. After stopping for another slice of pizza which I thought had pineapple or sometime or golden dried fruit on it as well as diced sausage, but it turned out to be potato wedge like fries and truthfully it wasn't sausage but little more than hot dog pieces. I was a bit ...
Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy mavsqb1... the position of Neptune's hand so that from the right angle, the effect was apparent. Interestingly, the ladies surrounding Neptune prompted nary an eyebrow raised... Most of this first day and night we just wandered the streets and alleys, being utterly charmed by Bologna's beauty. There is a really strange contrast to Bologna: I guess because it is a university city with something like 80,000 students living there, the city ...
Bologna, Italy adrianel... outs of the train system here! Anyway, at the station, the train was already 10 minutes "in ritardo" - surprise, surprise. The binario (platform) wasn't listed as yet so L gave us a quick lesson on how to read the train schedule. Very useful for future trips. Are you listening Jack? Ha. Our train was listed as "Terni" on the overhead digital board. You have to know this as they list the train by it's originating city. Would have never looked ...
Bologna, Italy judyf222... area, and how the duration spent in each section was driven more by how long we were interested in staying rather than a pre-determined timetable. The only rule was that we weren’t to touch anything. I’m sure the workers hate it though, with these nosey visitors having so much freedom to get in their way while they’re trying to work.

With the Research and Development and Formula One sections strictly off-limits, the first stop after a ...
Maranello, Emilia-Romagna, Italy troywilkinsonToday started my final year at university: one year of practical training. I started my first part in the Heart surgery at S.Orsola today, where I was supposed to be the next 16 weeks. The first things they asked me was, whether I was planning to come every day - because in this department the students never show up. So I decided to take some free time during the next weeks...
