... some time out to think about spending my battery-charging days in a quiet and beautiful city of north-east Italy, Venice. When I told my room-mate that I am going to Venice, he said "You could also visit Sirmione if you get some extra time". I looked it up on the internet, and after looking at the result I decided that I am dropping out Venice and going to Sirmione. Google Maps said it’s a place in kind of middle ...

... to the Monument cemetery. A truly different kind of cemetery from those in the states. A very large area with big headstones, mausoleums, monuments and photos of the dead. The Italians take funerals and remembering the deceased very seriously. Our last stop was at the kitschy Balcony of Juliette. Although a fictional character of Shakespeare, this is a popular stop with a balcony for the tourists.

The afternoon was getting late and our feet ...

... pass purchased provided a souvenir wine glass and 10 tastings for 15€ or about $16.50.

We each purchased a pass allowing us to try a total of twenty wines. A few Soave whites - not our favorite as they were very minerals tasting and very dry. The Valpolicella were okay, the Amarone were probably the best. One wine however stood our from the rest a red from Bennati ...
