... If he had worked in an English speaking country, he surely wouldn't be living in Poland now. Fair point.

He took us out to visit Anita's babcia. We went to a tiny little village out of town that looked like it'd seen better days. In fact, most of Poland had seen better days. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, and more recently, the induction into the E.U, all of Poland's wealth and labour force had moved west across the border ...

Jelenia Gora & Magical Mountains

... Mountains is part of the larger Sudetes range. Its highest peak is Sniezka which stands on the border between the Poland and Czech Republic - at a height of 1602 meters above sea level. The mountains are wonderful for trekking and ski. Large areas of the mountains are preserved as National Park.

... along the north of the country as planned, we also popped back into Germany a few times, Sharon felt a bit safer free camping in Germany as its more accepted and there are more rest stops. This also meant we got to check out Dresden which was as expected really nice, it reminded me of a very compact Paris, lots of buildings in a style not normally associated with Germany but carefully restored to something near its former glory since the war. The center of Dresden ...

al the former eastern bloc countries make for good travel,, but the one that i return to is the czech republic,, mainly to the north [north bohemia],liberec, harrochov, cesky raj, but a trip or two to moravia is also worth taking,,. during the communist times it was an eye opener, now also as the people wish for the return of those times, they knew where their bread was coming from, and the upgrades fron old skoda to super fast motorcars,, ah they stilll are crazy on the roads

Vikend v Liberci

Tento vikend sme s kamosmi v Liberci na severe Ciech. Prisli sme sem rovno zo San Diega, tak je to trochu teplotny sok. Ked sme s Dzozim odchadzali zo San Diega bolo krasnych 26 stupnov, ale ked sme prisli do Liberca bolo len okolo desat stupnov a poriadny vietor. Ale ako sa hovori, poriadne planovanie robi ...

Pillars of the earth

In a remote corner of northeastern Czech Republic lies an incredible collection of sandstone spires. So we changed gears and spent the day exploring the nooks of crannies of Teplice and Ardspach Skaly. I'm not sure if several hours of hiking counts as a "rest day", but it was absolutely worthwhile and we are so glad that we made the effort to come check this area out. Now, we DID have an actual rest day a couple days ago with our ...

... were suddenly surrounded by thousands of people just wandering and eating. Upon discovering the entry price to the castle we decided to turn back and go for a short walk through the nearby forest. In the end, this worked out well, as it was a lot more tranquil and we even discovered a viewing point of the fine castle, which Hitler once planned to use as a shelter. We arrived back in Opole soon after 7pm, capping off a great weekend. We certainly made the most of our time, doing a bit ...

Trutnov

... sure how this happened, obviously I haven't been looking after him properly, which is one of his favourite catch phases. So 4 loads of washing, one dryer, charged by the hour, and its 14 degrees so not the best weather for drying. Washing really has become a obsession of mine, it's a war, you have to focus and be ruthless with all your competitors, this is not about making friends people, this is about survival of the fittest). Victory at last for ...

SNOWBOARDING WITH THE DEVIL

... to me, and I'd be sad without her. Perhaps the highlight of my second visit to Andreka's was when she and I three-stepped lovely waltz in the snow outside her shop at midnight. And, as for Cert? You've gotta be kidding if you think anything can threaten a friendship like ours. "Cert zabije!" - Modern Oddyseus Thanks to Lada; and the Feldmanove couple for rides! Much thanks to Andreka, Pavel, Bobr, Bobr, & the others for the place to stay again!
