... that's when I met Ali, another couch surfer staying at Roels. He is from England but is from middle eastern descent. At first, I didn't get the best impression - he rarely spoke to me and didn't make much eye contact. Later I found that he just needs to get used to your company. He is VERY primitive by nature. Began the day with a canal boat ride through to the centre of the city. Probably the best perspective of the city since it takes in the historical development of Amsterdam. ... just how old you really are. Our plans may have just gone down the drain had we not had some luck on our side (it's the blessing from Pope Francis, almost positive!). We had already decided if need be to make them rebook this visit to another weekend that we had free, and we would just take a taxi back into the city. Everything worked out thankfully, but there was never any crisis, just a calm assessment of the best way ...

... scene of Amsterdam we headed back to prep for our last night dinner and pub crawl. Our final dinner was on a floating restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, which I thought was the opposite of local, however am reassured that Amsterdam is a melting pot of cultural diversity and has cultural influences from many countries including Asia. Something to do with some guy called Able Tasman, never heard of him myself. Post dinner we had a canal cruise of Amsterdam. Which ...
