Whilst the fabric of the hostel isn't the best, the service and general bonhomie from the people running it makes it a special place indeed.

Next we headed towards Lake Balaton in Western Hungary, the Hungarian equivalent of the Shuswap Lake in British Columbia. ... to the birthday party upon arrival at the lake last Saturday, and despite the fact that most of the activities were in Hungarian we still had fun. We thought we had a fighting chance at charades, but even that is played differently. Nevertheless, I managed to guess "butter" and Zack got "gypsey" so on some level we were able to participate. The party was for a friend turning 30, so we winery hopped played different games at each stop along the way. No bouncy castles ...

But here it's just an inside joke with myself.
I had my first legit goulash. Was super good, especially after waiting until 9 thirty for dinner. If I'd know it's be so late I would have gotten two dinners in!

... we went to a rope course. Complete with helmets, belt and climbing gloves, Alex and I attempted to teach ourselves to climb and swing and use a zip-line. We did very well on the adult course 7. Only after that did we see the training course you were supposed to go through first and only then did we find out hat we had just been in the hardest course there.
