Leave from nice on the Chemins de fer de Province (diesel train) to Touet-sur-Var. And then the steam train to Entrevaux, city with amazing views. On the way back a quick stop in Puget-Théniers.

... drove on to Pont du Loup where we stopped and played in the river. Fortunately, we all had our bathing suits this time so Bruce didn’t have to worry about scaring any of the locals again! Many locals come here for their afternoon “siesta” and lunch. It seems that they have enough time to do this since everything closes between 12-2 p.m. We have come to appreciate this and enjoy this relaxing time during the day.

We are lucky that we have many beautiful beaches nearby. We like to frequent the one in Antibes as it is a rock beach. The boys like to skip rocks into the sea and Aimee enjoys the lack of mess there is after a day at a sand beach. Bruce is just happy if no one takes a rock in the head and we ...

... vertrekken in de canyon! Toch een speciaal gevoel!

Al gauw merken we ook dat de steen waaruit deze canyon bestaat, van een heel speciale soort is!
Normaal gezien probeer je in canyons zoveel mogelijk uit het water te wandelen, omdat het daar minder glad is. Hier is het net andersom! Wil je niet onderuit gaan, blijf in het water!

We zetten er ook maar ...

... tot boven aan het vertrekpunt van de Peïra.

Vooral de afsluitende waterval is echt de moeite waard! Vanaf een punt waar je geen uitzicht hebt op de onderkant van de canyon, moet er een stuk gerappeld worden naar een nieuwe relais een tiental meter naar onder en aan de rechterkant van de grote waterval. Daar moeten we overpikken en een nieuwe rappel installeren.

Wel nog iets nieuws geleerd van Harald om te checken of het waterniveau in de canyon constant blijft!
Leg enkele stenen met een stokje in het water, op zo'n hoogte dat ze gedeeltelijk onder water steken. Na een tijdje wachten kan je zien of het waterniveau verandert als stenen of stokje dieper onder water komen te staan.

Eerste canyon van deze vakantie!

Samen met Maarten, Ludo en nog enkelen zetten we de vakantie in met deze canyon.
Enkele donderslagen en enkele druppeltjes doen slecht weer vermoeden, maar uiteindelijk zet het slechte weer zich niet door.
Wij hebben geluk... Ook voor de rest van de week ...

... shops, several grocery stores (and not gormet food stores either) and working class eateries like pizzarias (there are a lot of pizzarias in Monaco) etc. Believe it or not, there is a normal side in Monaco that wasn't that expensive (my syrop de l'eau was acutally 2-3 euros I believe, cheaper than that little Orangina I accidently purchased at that cafe in Paris!)
