... to me. So I had to trudge through snow and sleet for over a kilometre to get some food. And on the way I got splashed with ice water by 3 different passing vehicles. Awesome. I'm now tucked safely away in my traditional japanese room in my love hotel (which is actually quite cool), and I'm knackered! Hopefully the clouds clear tomorrow and I can see Mt Fuji before I go...the forecast bodes well. And yes, I did actually check the forecast this time.  ...

... sky's and fuji not blocked by any other mountains in the way(see pictures). Like the monkey park it was definitely worth the extra effort to get there and it is clear to see why the Japanese place such cultural and even spiritual importance on Fuji as it is so aesthetically pleasing and absolutely dwarfs everything around it. I'm off to Nagoya tomorrow as I head more into western ...

We whiled the morning away doing more window shopping after breakfast. We were to catch the train to Tachikawa after lunch as Shigeki and Norzin were meeting us at the Granduo Shopping Centre at 3pm.

We decided to stick to Kawasaki and wandered around looking for more lens filters. UV filters are so hard to come by now. They only have "protection filters" i.e. multicoated glass ones. Anyway, we bought one more and exchanged another ...

... we keep trying, sooner or later we'll get there. The question is where, which goal.

Alright, back to my travel journal. The shuttle was quite spacious, provided by the temple, and it's quiet there. Since it's not open to the public, we're the only guest for the night. Vegetarian diet was delicious, They even had a hot spring! No TV, no entertainment, and that's what a temple's for: meditation. On a rainy night, in remote mountains, perfect scene for detective stories!

... and wonder as well about all the human activities that we can spot. On the highest part of the mountain there is a automatic weather station and the top stations around the crater consist of shrines, restaurants for soups and other dishes, a post office and souvernir shops.

The crater gets now very crowded and more and more people arrive from the lower stations. ...
