    ... Quintana Roo. It has nothing to do with daylight saving or summertime hours, but a permanent shift so that holiday makers have an extra hour in the shops or at the beach.

    In other words, an extra hour of daylight in which to spend money.

    However because I left the Campeche region and drove over into Quintana Roo, I then lost an hour. So from arriving at 8.30pm, I now found myself having arrived just after 9.30pm.

    ... The country is sooo different to Guatemala or western Mexico as the people are mostly black Afro-Americans. Also the landscape is very rural and it looks not very populated. We saw a lot of wooden houses and a lot of jungle :-) I noticed also a change of climate - the sun was unbearable and it got very humid. The capital, Belize City, also made a very rural impression and reminded me a bit of some US ...

    ... but yesterday we had to walk on the pavement to get around all the puddles. Good thing because the wind was strong and the waves were crashing into the sea wall. One time a wave came over the wall and splashed on the shoulder of the road just missing me. I looked behind me at Jeff and he is laughing his head off. All he could say was "that would have been so funny if it hit you". Thanks honey. I have to admit I was laughing right along ...

    ... the street. Family and friends walked behind the hearse as they made their way to the cemetery. It was a solemn sight. May they rest In peace. We then stopped at June's Kitchen, which is ranked #1 of 22 restaurants in Corozal on TripAdvisor, plus is highly recognized by the locals.     ... impressed by the books. I'm sure they'll find them very useful as there is really nothing else quite like them available anywhere else.

    Another man I am studying with used to hide when the brothers would call. Things have changed for him in recent years though and he has now accepted a study. Lots of questions are now pouring out of him. It just shows you that people change, even in territory that is worked very often, like here.
