... of Karnival. Karnival in Germany takes place for a great chunk of the year, but for the most part, it is largely ignored. The exceptions being the first day and five days in February. During this time, Cologne (the largest celebrator of Karnival in Europe) is changed from a thriving metropolis, to a wild, staggaring, drunken and costumed mob. Everywhere for the entire day people were traveling in cheering groups wearing crazy and brightly colored outfits and ...
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany jluetkehansEine Woche in Leverkusen beim Biltroller Meeting. Was sind Biltroller? Buchhalter i.w.S. (((-: Allerdings ging's ...

... background can maybe appreciate the literal translation of the word), and having new experiences. Tomorrow marks the beginning of Karnival in Cologne, so there should be some great goings on in the Altstadt (Old Town).
Next time I write, I'll try to catch you up on the day to day scoop of my life in Germany. Spoiler alert: Germans are never, never, never cold...

... shopping street was packed with people. Seems that in Germany stores stay open till 9pm on Saturdays but are closed all day Sundays. Chris said that driving in Cologne really reminded him of driving in Montreal at night. Funny how things spark senses and memories. We decided to come back the next day for some real sightseeing.
We woke up to some beautiful weather so we drive into town once again and took in the sights. The main thing to see in Cologne is The ...
... this about one of my favourite cities so we continued to show them around the city and told them all of the interesting facts we could remember from our walking tour.
The next day we travelled to Milan, then to Briggs, then Basel, then up to Freiburg, Germany. We got lost trying to find the hostel in the dark so it took us about an hour of walking to find it. It was a cool hostel though- huge common area and nice kitchen and beds that were not bunkbeds ...
... and Amsterdam in Netherlands. Philip and Lawrence both took their cars over for the tour, with highlight of the Nürbergring racetrack. As they say, what happens on tour stays on tour, but we had a brilliant time. Here's a few pictures and video's from the Germany part of the trip, courtesy of Elias, who had the commonsense to bring a camera.
Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany danielringrose... the factory but we just had to follow the smell- for real. So we found, bought and ate them :-) Now we have gummybears for the next weeks, or the next days??? ;-) Time was running fast and we just had one hour to see some nice places at the old town of Bonn, for example the University with its nice park for the free time. Returning at home Alex started to cook his special curry soup and I took time by the forelock and cleaned up the car. Day is over now, sleep well!!!
Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany surfthenorth... try to spell so watch this space! The flat in general is working out really well, I'm already thinking about how sad it will be when everyone starts dispersing soon! =( But the best things in life tend to be short... I'm glad that we don't really have a slob in the house =) As Ms Monica Geller I don't know how I would have dealt with that! Another reason why I wish I was here ...
Bonn, Germany denaida... both doctors and often work different shifts at different hospitals, so long lost friend or not, he was to see his girl. We couldn't blame him, and as we sat around preparing for bed we talked about his kindness. I thought about the magic of good energy in good people. Striking similar frequencies and making harmony. The next day we met again, having a croissant and a cappuccino before we said goodbye and left for Trier. That morning was the first time that the ...
