... snakes... all sorts really but I am definitely glad we didn't have a brief encounter with a tiger...I don't think my heart could take that one!

Bukit Lawang is set on a fab river which I enjoyed with the girls and locals alike and had fun splashing around. The weather here is hot, mid thirties pretty much all the time and they haven't had rain for the past couple of months so the river is fairly low but worse than that, the wells are running dry.

We saw Adrianna and Nacho off on their bus, they were leaving to head to Pulau Weh, an island off the North tip of Sumatra in Aceh. This isn’t even in our guide book (4 years old) due to the fact there has ...

... I met people who spoke English...yes! Boat booked and bus to Bukit Lawang the following week booked, I made the half hour sail across to Tuk Tuk on a very rickety boat...thankful to reach the other end with both myself and my luggage not under water. I found my way a little stretch down the road at Merlyn's Guesthouse, which i had read about in my Lonely Planet guide. With a Batak house to stay in for the night, tourists from Europe and the UK next door to me and friendly ...
