We spent July 3rd in the city of Koblenz, a city founded by the Romans over 2000 years ago at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. It is a vital link in the international river trade routes of Europe. Although air raids during WWII destroyed 85% of the city, it has been extensively renovated to preserve the ambiance of old Koblenz. The morning found us walking past the German Corner, at the ...

... night but at least it was peace of mind we were in somewhere. No internet, which we were banking on for VW dash disks research. We didn't bother with the awning as it was now gone 7 and absolutely scorching hot and we were beyond tired. Jon threw together the traditional Sunday roast in record time (roasties and stuffing absent) and we munched before bed. A very restless night due to hot and itchy bites. No photos taken as it was PANTS so we've added some nice ones we have lying ...

The entire visit was very sobering, especially when you learned and saw first-hand the pure, vile and megalomaniacal intent Hitler had. ... inside the church, so I wasn’t able to take any pictures. The main door is also very beautiful – it is a wooden door with intricate carvings, with 3 statues above is and several statues surrounding it called "The Wise and Foolish Virgins," which are very impressive. Above the door, there is a pointed, carved arch, which is stereotypical of the gothic era. I also learned that this is the church where Martin Luther was ordained ...

... to a little Italian retaurant. We stocked up with beer, had a pizza and then walked around a bit. Very lovely and picturesque. There is a monestary on the hill and the bells on the clock went every 15 mins all through the night. I never heard them but Wayne did. We will have another early night as we have driven 380 miles today and we still have 140 miles to go in the morning so we can get there in time for Patrick to pick us up about lunchtime.
