... fairgrounds to check things out.<br><br>In Münsterplatz we rode the big wheel and got a nice view of the city lights reflecting on the Rhine. After our ride we just hung around a stall selling gluwein, drinking and chatting. Everywhere we went was crowded with people in good spirits and children full of sugar and excitement. Herbstmesse is a fun time in Basel!

We got back in Basel late yesterday afternoon. We had lots of time to sort out our luggage and for mom and dad to repack for their journey today. Today it was time to say good-bye. They are driving back to Paris and flying home midday tomorrow. I had parked their rental car in an underground garage right by my apartment. I finally got to go up the Messeturm last night! I have been wanting to go up there since I learned it was possible. I tried once when my sister was visiting but the restaurant at the top is now a bar and it is only open in the evenings, and by the time we found this out we didn't have any evenings left.<br><br>But last night some friends went there for drinks and I got to check out ...

... thing, and realising we would not have the energy to pull the duvet back, had done just that for us. They actually employ people in the evenings to sneak into people's rooms, leave a present, fold back the sheet, and sneak out again. I want that job!!! I suppose it beat walking into the Formula 1 Inn the night before and slipping on the nakerchief sized towel still wet from our evening shower! <br><br>And so to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz<br><br>

... with costumes and masks and bands. Damn near froze standing still for that long, but I had a good vantage point for the pictures so I wasn't going to move for fear of losing my spot. After the parade we got stuck into the gluhwein and some hot food then went back to the hostel for a hot shower, then out for dinner. We went to a local brewery that had a restaurant incorporated and had such a good time that we made it a regular while we were there.

Stayed at a nice campsite, very quiet as they all seem to be at the mo, but only a 20 min tram ride into the centre of Basel - perfect! We did also make sure we paid this time, as we were warned by dad about them ...

... next day and my luggage was in the apartment. Our first move was to walk back to the theater and restaurant. The theater was now closed and would first open at 8:00 am, and no luck at the restaurant. We then went to Linda's work, where security guards man the front desk 24/7.
