First Trip to Austria, so we had to go twice in one week! What we noticed: extremely beautiful landscape - still a part of the alps, so snow and beautiful mountain streams everywhere, everything is cheaper than Switzerland, people actually wear Dirndls (think female lederhosen dresses), the food is much better, and you can smoke everywhere - yucky!

... the booked Mozart Dinner Concert at the St. Peter's Stiftskeller. Dinner and performance was held in the beautiful Barocksaal. Very enjoyable, the chamber orchestra (2 violins, 1 viola, 1 cello and double base) played very well, the two singers (soprano and baritone) where average. They played and sang arias and duets of Don Giovanni, La Nozze die Figaro and Die Zauberflöte. Food was good, wine ...

Since we had been exploring for a while, we decided to grab lunch at a local restaurant with Italian influences. I tried the seafood and garlic panzerrotto which was easily one of my favorite meals during my trip.

After a hearty lunch, we decided to take advantage of our Salzburg Cards and went beer tasting at the Stiegl-Brauwelt. My favorite beer was a grapefruit infused beer, which was sweet and light. We ...

... a piano accordion and the other on a hammer dulcimer. They were very good.Onto the Abbey gate. We had to walk up a path which gave us beautiful views over the old town and the church steeple. Once at the Abbey gate we saw some real nuns tending the garden around the cemetery outside their church. We have noticed here that in cemeteries each grave had their own garden bed to tend to. Quite a nice idea really, rather than just placing flowers that will always die. ...

... There are no real cooking facilities - a microwave and 2 hotplates. No oven, no kettle, no toaster, no pot big enough to cook pasta, no laundry, the youth hostel would have been better. There are not even any restaurants - I can tell you that the review of this place on trip advisor will be 0.5 stars. I must say that it looks cute, and is clean and has wifi, but on balace, really a hostel would have been better.
